Nadejda. L. Loujine
Nadejda L. Loujine is today the undisputed reference in character dance. A former teacher at the Paris Opera Ballet School and visiting professor at New York's prestigious Gelsey Kirkland Academy, she was named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 1992. Her collaborations with such emblematic figures as the Théâtre du Soleil, Barcelona Opera, Michael Lonsdale, Jordi Savall... bear witness to her artistic recognition. Based on living traditions, she creates worlds inspired by the Slavic lands, from the Caucasus to the steppes of Central Asia.
Her approach transforms folklore into theatrical works. Nadejda L. Loujine proposes a dance that everyone can reappropriate and infuse with "the salt of their personality", creating an accessible and profoundly human art form.
